About the event

This joint concert with Jesmond Choral Group, Priory Singers and solo percussionist Steven Moore, includes performances of 'The Armed Man' by Karl Jenkins and J.S. Bach's Violin Concerto No.1 on vibraphone.

The Armed Man is a Mass by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, subtitled "A Mass for Peace". The piece was commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum for the Millennium celebrations, to mark the museum's move from London to Leeds, and it was dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis.

The Violin concerto in A Minor, was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach and transcribed for Vibraphone by Steven Moore.  It was written about 1730 and consists of three movements (quick-slow-quick) in imitation of the pattern set by Antonio Vivaldi.
